Liz Murrill’s daughter-in-law, who worked for the Governor’s Office, reportedly spent time working remotely in defiance of Landry’s executive order

By Joshua Rosenberg. Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Liz Murrill’s daughter-in-law, Camille Gianfala Murrill, had reportedly spent time working for the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activity as a communications specialist remotely, in defiance of Governor Jeff Landry’s Executive Order No. JML 25-048, which required return to in-person work under most circumstances by June 30, 2025, according to one source who wished to remain anonymous. Liz Murrill is Louisiana’s Attorney General.

“All existing telework arrangements shall end no later than June 30, 2025, except those that are medical accommodations approved in accordance with the policies of the respective state department, agency, board, or commission as required by R.S. 46:2594,” Landry’s executive order reads. R.S. 46:2594 refers to a statute regarding agencies’ requirement to act in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Landry described allowing remote work, which became commonplace during the COVID-19 pandemic era, as “one of the biggest negative effects” of that era.

“Whereas, the State of Louisiana is committed to serving its citizens effectively, efficiently, and with accountability at all times;” the executive order reads, in part.

“Whereas, it is in the best interest of Louisiana’s citizens for state employees to return to physical offices or facilities to enhance public service and maximize the use of state-owned assets;” the executive order continues.

Gianfala appears to be a 2023 graduate of the Manship School at Louisiana State University. She had been a communications specialist for the Governor’s Office from August 2024 until April of this year, according to her LinkedIn. Her new position is listed as Communications Director for Devise Strategy Group. She’s been there as of March.

Before that, she was a public information officer and social media manager for the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority of Louisiana for a year and five months.

Correction: A previous version of this story stated that Gianfala Murrill currently works for Landry. According to her LinkedIn profile, she appears to have changed jobs. That error has been corrected.
